The following is a sample of most frequently asked questions and the answers to them. If you have a question which is not answered here, please contact us at info@adionim.com and we will do our best to answer.
1. How is the gold coating made?
The gold coating is made by using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology and our proprietary process developed by Adionim. The coating is achieved by bombardment of gold atoms on the external surface of the product (the substrate), where they embed.
2. Is the gold merely on the external surface?
The gold layer is quite thin (depending on specification), and is imprinted into the outer layer of the substrate, not just on it, because of the high energy with which the atoms strike the surface.
3. Will the gold picture fade in time? Will it peel or chip?
Gold is a noble metal. It does not normally corrode and never fades. However, its permanence depends on the substrate material and its durability on environmental influences. 24K gold is a very soft material, and should be treated carefully, according to our specific instructions.
4. How can we be sure that the coating is made of pure 24K Gold?
We provide each 24K gold item with an authenticity certificate. The quality of our pure gold can be verified by any authorized material lab.
5. Can you coat with other materials?
Yes. We can coat with various materials such as silver, titanium, aluminum, copper, ceramic compounds, and other metal and non-metal compounds developed for specific uses and purposes. All such coatings are imprinted into the substrate.
6. What substrates can be coated?
Coating can be made on granite, marble, ceramic plates and various types of stones, glass, precious stones, diamonds, many plastics, and metals.
7. What pictures can you create? Does a picture have to be a digital? Can you also imprint artworks and designs?
We can create any picture, script, logo, design, etc. A good quality picture of the subject is needed. It will be digitized for the process, so the quality of imprinted picture will depend on the quality of the original. Logistics can be simplified by e-mailed digital pictures.
8. Can you create patterns on jewelry?
Yes, either on the raw stone subsequently processed into jewelry, or on the finished product. We can imprint on diamonds, and on precious and semi-precious stones.
9. What shapes and sizes can you imprint on?
All shapes with flat or near flat surfaces. Other shapes should be looked into specifically. Sizes can begin at pin-head size up to 50×120 cm. Of course, every product has to be studied individually.
10. What is the minimum quantity for coating?
We will be pleased to quote even for one-of-a-kind.
11. Is it possible for jewelry pieces to be made into rings with text or pictures?
We can create any pattern on jewelry, from sizes visible by the naked eye, down to sizes that require a strong magnifying glass. We have supplied gemstones with various designs to jewelry manufacturers for production of rings, necklaces, pendants and earrings.
12. Can a pattern be attached to parts already in place, like an existing headstone?
Yes, by producing a plate and binding it to the existing stone.
